Carpet Cleaning FAQ
High Pressure Steam Carpet Cleaning
Commonly known as steam carpet cleaning, We use a commercial van mounted high pressure steam cleaning engine to agitate the carpet fiber and dissolve dirt in the carpet. This is then immediately vacuumed back into our service van, as there are 2 lines on the carpet wand, one for steam the other for vacuum. Carpet steam cleaning typically involves the application of a cleaning agent, also known as a surfactant, onto the soiled carpet surface, After the cleaning agent settles into the carpet for a short duration, the carpet will be “washed” by high pressure (about 400-450 psi) steam carpet cleaning equipment to rinse the cleaning agent thoroughly while being extracted into the service van. After Steam cleaning we use a deodorizer – no extra charge and it smells great! Finally, let the damp carpet dry for about 3 – 4 hours.
Yes, Highly Recommended
Many carpet cleaners do not require that you vacuum first but it is a good idea to remove the top layer of dirt and hair so they can do the deep carpet cleaning. Be aware that carpet-cleaning technicians use a steam cleaning wand. The intake on the steam cleaning wand is just big enough to extract the dampness left over from the steam coming out of the wand. The slit, or opening on the steam cleaning wand is not the correct size for ‘vacuuming’. That job is better left for a vacuum cleaner. If you do not have a vacuum cleaner you can always use a broom.
How Big is a ‘Room’?
We consider any area of carpet with or without furniture in an enclosed area to be one room, like a small bedroom, living room or den. If you have any large areas that exceed 300 square feet they will be counted as two or more rooms. Our technicians will not measure your room or area with a tape measure down to the last centimeter. We are professional carpet cleaners and there is no need for that. We do not charge for closets or hallways. Period. A closet is attached to the room and is therefore part of the ‘room’. Hallways are usually if not always included into the price of any special we are running. Stairs are priced separately. We are here to clean your carpet, upholstery and tile – not nickel and dime you.
On average, it will take approximately 25 minutes per room. This time can vary greatly depending on how soiled the carpet is, and any necessary spot removal treatments. Drying time is usually about 3 -4 hours.
